Beautiful Monkey Islands

Overview

This tour takes us nature sightseeing around rainforest islands inside Lake Gatun.

We visit:

• Chagres River: The first thing we do is drive to the middle of the Panama Canal, to the main source of water for the Lake and lock system of the Canal, the Chagres River. This is where we get on the boat that will take us to the Lake.

• Lake Gatun: Less than a minute from the dock we will enter the lake that is transited by the oceanliner freight ships crossing from ocean to ocean. We will going side by side on a small boat next to the big ships for about 10 minutes on our way to the Monkey Islands.

• Monkey Islands: Hilltops on the sides of the Chagres River became islands when the lake was created back in 1913 during construction of the Panama Canal. We will have the opportunity of spotting 3 species of monkeys and other wildlife including birds, iguanas, butterflies, crocodiles and more!
